Selection and Maintenance of Oil Mist Filters

Author: ComeFrom: Date:2026/5/20 15:18:22 Hits:5
(I) Key Points for Model Selection
The core of equipment selection is matching the actual working conditions. Blind selection will fail to achieve purification performance and raise costs. The following four factors should be prioritized:

- Air Volume Matching
The air volume demand for a single machine tool ranges from 500 to 2000 m³/h. For workshops with multiple machine tools, calculate the total air volume with the formula: Single unit air volume × Quantity × 1.2 safety factor. Insufficient air volume will cause oil mist leakage, while excessive air volume leads to unnecessary energy consumption.

- Type of Oil Mist
Centrifugal and filtration-type units are preferred for pure cutting oil mist. Emulsified liquid mist is more difficult to treat, so electrostatic or composite filters are mandatory. For high-temperature oil fume, equipment with high-temperature resistance must be adopted to prevent deformation and failure of filter materials.

- Installation and Environment
Compact models are recommended for narrow workshops. In precision workshops, equipment noise must be kept below 65dB so as not to interfere with machining accuracy. Explosion-proof certified models are required for hazardous conditions such as aluminum processing.

- Compliance and Cost Control
Prioritize equipment with CCEP environmental product certification that meets the energy efficiency requirements of the latest national standards. In the long run, consumable-free electrostatic and centrifugal models are more cost-effective than filtration-type units requiring frequent cartridge replacement. Make a comprehensive decision based on budget and environmental regulations.

 (II) Routine Maintenance Guidelines
Proper maintenance can extend the service life of oil mist filters and maintain stable purification efficiency. Maintenance cycles vary by equipment type. Key requirements are listed below:

- Type-based Maintenance
For centrifugal filters: Clean the centrifugal disc every month.
For filtration filters: Replace filter cartridges every 3 to 6 months.
For electrostatic filters: Clean the electric field every 6 to 12 months.
For composite filters: Maintain each module separately. Failure of a single module will compromise the overall purification effect.

- Filter Cartridge Management
Inspect and clean primary filter screens every 1 to 2 months, and replace them promptly once clogged. Regularly check the sealing performance to prevent oil mist from escaping through gaps. Always install filter cartridges of the correct model to avoid mismatch between filter media and working conditions.

- Waste Oil Recovery
Recovered oil can be precipitated and filtered for reuse in non-precision machining. Keep recovery records for cost accounting. Random dumping of waste oil is strictly prohibited to prevent secondary pollution and fines for environmental violations.

- Daily Inspection
Regularly remove accumulated oil inside the unit to keep the air duct unobstructed. If you encounter weak suction, smoke at the air outlet or abnormal fan noise, inspect the clogged filter cartridges or mechanical faults and troubleshoot immediately.
